Family-run business
Our Story
Fan's Delicacy began with one family, one rolling pin, and a stubborn belief that a dumpling should taste like home.

Not all dumplings
are created equal
Our family came to Melbourne from China — a place where dumplings aren't a snack, they're the main dish, similar to bread in Australia. Grandma brought her recipes, her rolling pin, and a refusal to cut corners. Today, that same dough is rolled fresh every morning on Church Street, Brighton, and the wok behind the pass rarely cools down.

From China
to Brighton
Back home, every celebration ends the same way — the whole family around a table, pleating dumplings until midnight. When we opened Fan's Delicacy, we wanted that feeling, not just that food.
Ingredients are chosen by hand from local markets each morning. Nothing pre-made, nothing frozen on arrival — just the way Grandma would insist.

A room that feels
like home
Hand-painted botanical murals, warm timber, marble-topped tables and the low hum of a full house. We built a space you'd want to linger in — whether it's a quick lunch of wontons or a long dinner with the whole family.
Walk-ins are always welcome, and there's a tight, well-chosen list of wine and beer to go with the food.

Hand-folded,
every single day
Our team pleats thousands of dumplings by hand before the doors open — Spanish mackerel and chive, pork and cabbage, prawn and egg, and a handful of vegetarian favourites.
It's slow, it's stubborn, and it's the whole point. You can taste the difference in the first bite.
"Good dumplings can't be rushed — and shouldn't be."
